Line As Value
For this project we were tasked to recreate an image of a red panda. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be an assignment if it was that simple. The twist is that we were tasked to make this only using black and white, not grayscale. Just black and white. This is known as "Line as Value" and thus the name of the assignment. The first step of the process was testing patterns on a sheet. It helped me realize I was going to struggle, and struggle I did. I had a hard time not reverting to cross hatching or shading. I ended up getting it done and that's all that matters.
This was neither a hard to complete and rewarding nor easy and quick. It ended up feeling like a bit of a drag. That was honestly the biggest challenge. The drag made it hard to come up with ideas and have inspiration. If I had more time I would have tried to make my lines and work more crisp but I still like the way it is. This is an assignment I'd skip if I could. I hope you enjoy how it looks!
